CIA Investigations
WELCOME TO A NEW YEAR OF LAB WORK!
Computer classes for grades K-7 will begin after Labor Day, Tuesday, September 2 nd. All students will begin by investigating how the lab will be used for the coming year and by reviewing the criteria and the processes for their investigations.
Then students will begin their investigations with a study and practical lab usage of the keyboard. Lower grade students will investigate where to find the keys to perform the correct functions and middle and upper grade students will have practice in the lab to improve their speed and accuracy as well as to learn more word processing skills.
Lab Investigations for the year will include:
Lower grades: Keyboarding, Mouse Basics, Program Usage, Internet Usage, and using the Paint program.
Middle grades: Keyboarding, Mouse Basics, Internet Exploration, Research for and creation of a Spread Sheet, Paint, Word Processing, and Data Base (5 th Grade only.)
Upper grades: Keyboarding, Word Processing, Task Wizard Projects, Paint, Spreadsheet, Research for projects, Power Point, and Web News Articles (6 th grade only.)
Remember: To be a CIA investigator on the Internet, each student must have an Internet agreement signed by the student and a parent/guardian on file at the school. All 2007-2008 K-7 students at Good Shepherd (last year) already have this form on file and do not need to sign a new form. All Kindergarten and students new to Good Shepherd this year will need to have this form signed and turned in at the first lab class September 2nd. The form was included in the packet of forms you received either at your home visit or the open house. If you need a form, it may be obtained from the office.
Be ready to be part of CIA in the Lab!
