What? A one-hour jogging marathon. You may jog, run, or walk around an eighth-mile track. You are not competing against anyone(but a little friendly competition might help). The object is to cover as many laps around the track as you can in one hour. Where? 4-H Shelter in Mineral Springs Park, Pekin, Illinois When? Sunday, October 4, 2009. A delicious meal of butterfly pork chops, chicken breats, bratwurst, or hot dogs(menu below) is being served from 11:30-3:00. Registration for jogging is 12:00-1:15. Jogging will be from 1:30-2:30. The jogging will take place directly outside of the 4-H Shelter on a flagged course. Why? Participants will be jogging to raise funds for Good Shepherd Lutheran School. This helps to keep the tuition charges affordable, and provides neeed funding to continue the quality Christian education your child receives through Good Shepherd Lutheran School and Preschool. Participants also compete for individual and class prizes, and enjoy fellowship with all those involved with the school. How far can I jog? A person can walk 24-30 laps or jog 40-50 laps on the eighth mile track in an hour. Usually most participants do a little of both. Pledge per lap or total pledge - If someone tells you they will pledge $10, make sure you understand if they are pledging a total of $10 or $10 per lap. Are Donations Tax Deductable? YES! Good Shepherd is a non-profit organization supported by Lutheran congregations of the community. Checks should be made out to Good Shepherd. If you are a Thrivent member, be sure to pick up a matching gift form. If your're not a member but wish to have your donation matched, you can become an associate Thrivent member by paying a $10 fee. Collecting Money - All pledges will be billed unless marked paid on the pledge sheet. If the jogger is collecting the money, please turn in the pledge sheet on the day of the event or to the school office with in TWO WEEKS. I fyou are not collecting your own money, PLEASE MAKE SURE COMPLETE MAILING ADDRESSES ARE ON THE PLEDGE SHEET! PRIZES! - Prizes will be awarded in many categories. Click Here to see the prize list.
