“What’s in a name?” ~ Juliet, Act 2, Scene 2, Romeo & Juliet by William Shakespeare
At Good Shepherd Lutheran School, much is in our name!
Good Shepherd ~ The Good Shepherd ~ Jesus Christ, our Lord says in John 10:11 ~ 11 I am the
good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
Lutheran ~ Our beliefs are expressed in the documents of the Book of Concord. In
summary: the Lutheran church teaches and confesses that there is salvation in
Christ alone ~ by grace alone, through faith alone, on the basis of God’s word
alone.
School ~ From Merriam-Webster: Noun ~ an organization that provides instructions
Verb ~ to teach, drill, discipline, habituate
Most importantly, at Good Shepherd Lutheran School, we will make certain that our students know the most important name to have ever been given!
Philippians 2: 10-11 ~ 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
